AMD and KDDI partner to enhance 5G virtualized networks with 4th gen EPYC CPUs
AMD and KDDI Corporation, led by new CEO Hiromichi Matsuda, announced a collaboration to utilize 4th Gen AMD EPYC CPUs in KDDI’s advanced 5G virtualized network. The partnership focuses on delivering high performance and efficient traffic processing for 5G networks, with validation starting in 2025 and commercial deployment in Japan planned for 2026.
The collaboration includes extensive validation and testing to strengthen KDDI’s 5G core networks, aiming to enhance customer experience and develop energy-efficient solutions for 5G and next-generation communication infrastructure, including AI-enabled data centers.
