Smartphone shipment grew by mere 1% in Q12025 compared to year ago quarter

As per latest research from Canalys worldwide smartphone shipment grew by mere 1% year on year in 1st quarter of 2025 compared to year ago quarter. The reasons found by Canalys includes macroeconomic headwinds, cautious consumer sentiment and delayed channel inventory digestion.

Other finding shared by Canalys includes:
Samsung took the global lead with a 20% market share, while Apple followed closely with an 18% share. Xiaomi came third with 14%, maintaining its share of a year ago, while vivo and OPPO ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, each with an 8% share of the market.
