White paper from Wi-Fi alliance on Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n products from China
The Wi-Fi Alliance has introduced a new white paper detailing how Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n is ready to support the connectivity in China. In cooperation with In-Stat China, the paper outlines the expected demand for Wi-Fi CERTIFIED products in China, discusses the technology advances behind Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n, including multiple spatial streams and efficiency mechanisms, and showcases applications for the technology in mobile networks, the digital home and enterprise deployments.
Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n, the latest generation Wi-Fi technology, provides up to five times the performance and twice the range of previous Wi-Fi standards. Wi-Fi Alliance also says that over half the shipments of Wi-Fi products feature Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n technology.
"Wi-Fi has become a predominant technology for the Chinese consumer. Research shows that the Chinese market has a large appetite for Wi-Fi products that will help connect and provide multimedia applications," said Anty Zheng, Managing Director of In-Stat China. "Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n products meet the demanding requirements of our new connected world."
"Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n offers tremendous benefits for carriers, manufacturers, enterprise users and consumers in the China market," said Wi-Fi Alliance CEO Edgar Figueroa. "Wi-Fi Alliance member companies continue to propel Wi-Fi technology forward, with our organization acting as a key center of collaboration and innovation."
As of June 2010, half of Wi-Fi Alliance member companies were based in Asia. That includes about 150 service providers, device makers, silicon and software companies providing products and services based upon Wi-Fi technology. The number of Chinese companies in the Wi-Fi Alliance has doubled over the past year. The Wi-Fi Alliance also has nine Authorized Test Laboratories in Asia to support these members, including two in China.
