Ittiam to make major investment in automotive infotainment sector

Ittiam Systems has announced that it is making major investments in its multimedia systems IP to serve the automotive infotainment sector. For the year 2011-12, the number of products shipped to market by its automotive tier-1 customers embedding Ittiam multimedia IP crossed the landmark of one million units. In the last four years, the customer shipments have reached to 2.5 million units based on unit royalties reported in addition to multi-million units of products for which bulk licenses were given by Ittiam.

Ittiam was founded in 2001 and is a supplier of media processing and communication technologies for applications such as Smart Phones, Tablets, Video Communication & Networking Systems, Media Broadcast Systems and Wi-Fi Communication.

Madhu Parthasarathy, who was earlier general manager of DSP and multimedia division of Wipro Technologies, has joined Ittiam as the general manager of its newly formed Automotive business unit. The business unit offerings cover Audio, Image, Video and Communication Systems for several combinations of hardware and software platforms, with an importance towards green solutions.
