Murata's Bluetooth SMART module mass production to start from June

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has announced that the mass production of its Bluetooth SMART module 'LBCA1ZZVZE' would start from June. The module supports the Bluetooth low-energy standard.

Bluetooth low energy (BLE) is a low power communication technology that enables months to years of operation with a button battery. The applications are expected in fields such as health management, fitness and home networks. Continua Health Alliance has adopted the BLE communication technology.

BLE is adopted for use in mobile terminals such as smartphones and tablet terminals. There are expectations of BLE as a means of connecting mobile terminals with health management devices such as blood pressure meters and bathroom scales, and battery-driven devices such as wristwatches and compact sensors.

Features:
1. Supports network capability of customer devices
2. Built-in protocol stacks required for Bluetooth low-energy communication
3. Can be controlled from the 8-bit or 16-bit CPUs
4. Commands transmitted via an UART interface
5. Acquired certifications (Radio Act and Bluetooth Qualification)

The module LBCA1ZZVZE has an external size of 20.0 x 13.0 x 2.4 mm.

The mass production starts from June at Komatsu Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
