100 Gbps Ethernet over fiber n/w interoperability by Fujitsu, NEC and Anritsu
Fujitsu Limited, NEC Corporation, and Anritsu Corporation have demonstrated field interoperability testing for fiber optic network interface technology at 100 Gigabit-class speeds. The release claims it was first time in the world that the transmission of 100 Gbps Ethernet signals over multiple optical networks using communication equipment from multiple vendors was successfully demonstrated.
Details of the test were presented at the 25th Symposium on Optical Communication Systems (OCS Symposium) in Mishima, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The OCS Symposium is Japan's popular telcom event on the subject of fiber optic communications. The event is sponsored by the Optical Communication Systems technical committee of the Institute of Electronics, Information, and Communications Engineers (IEICE).
These tests were carried out as part of the collaborative project titled "Ethernet over OTN Technology R&D Project," in Japan.
