Maxim to focus on Indian semiconductor market

Analog and mixed signal semiconductor specialist Maxim Integrated Products lately realizes the opportunities in India's semiconductor market and now started giving push. Recently Vijay Ullal, Group President, Consumer and Automotive, Maxim was in Bangalore to share his views on the latest trends in the industry. He delivered a presentation at the CXO conclave organized by India Semiconductor Association (ISA).

He said Maxim along with investing in R& D in India is also looking for software development companies in India to support firmware, software and algorithm development.

He sees smart grid can offer another big opportunity comparable to the Internet revolution in 90s. Internet wires computers used by people, where as the smart grid wires the machines. The IPV6 is designed to connect physical devices to net.

He shared below quotes on the future world:
"Robots that never get tired or grumpy", Example: Cars that drive themselves
"Gadgets and homes that are always aware", Example: Phones and homes that adapt to the user
"Systems that monitor and heal themselves",Example: Smart energy grid

System level design, rising chip design costs, and 3D packaging and system in package are some of the other trends he highlighted in his talk.
