500 Z-Wave certified products in the market

The Z-Wave Alliance has said it has achieved a major milestone by certifying its 500th Z-Wave product. This milestone follows other recent announcement where Sigma Designs' naming Mitsumi as a licensed second source for Z-Wave wireless RF technology and the deployment of the largest single installations of Z-Wave at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas with 65,000 devices. GreenWave Reality's Home Energy Management solution, a smart meter reader for the European market from NorthQ ApS and four new lighting controls from GE/ Jasco were also recently added to the Z-Wave ecosystem.

"This 500th certified product milestone is the result of a long history of innovation and customer focus, and is reflective of the high-quality, industry-leading brands Z-Wave brings to market," stated Raoul Wijgergangs, chairman of the Z-Wave Alliance. "Our broad portfolio has enabled Z-Wave to deliver market-leading home control solutions across multiple channels from service providers and security companies to hospitality, builder/installer, utility companies and retailers. In addition this growth has enabled our reach beyond US and Europe into emerging home services markets in Japan, Brazil and China."

The 500th product certified is a Z-Wave bridge controller from Alliance member Somfy Systems Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of specialized motors and control systems for retractable awnings, rolling shutters, interior shades, blinds, projection screens and other lift-up applications for the home. The bridge controller, ZRTSI, opens Somfy's full range of interior and exterior wireless control motors for window coverings, light switches, dimmers, thermostats/HVAC systems and motion sensors to the Z-Wave interoperable ecosystem.

Z-Wave provides an end-to-end solution that allows the homeowner to wirelessly manage and control lighting, thermostats, appliances and home entertainment systems from anywhere in the world. The Z-Wave certification process is extensive and those products that achieve certification can be identified by the Z-Wave logo on their packaging. All Z-Wave certified products are interoperable, making it easy to build a Z-Wave home network. Z-Wave products are being implemented in homes around the world by builders, installers, service providers and security companies, including ADT, and are currently available in major retail and e-retail stores including Best Buy, Fry's and Amazon.com.
