Internet TV, LED-Backlit, large size are the TV market trends as per IHS iSuppli
The IHS iSuppli U.S. TV Consumer Preference Analysis reports below latest findings.
1. Adoption of Internet-Connected TVs (IETVs) Has Increased Significantly Q1 saw an increase of 10% in new TVs being connected to the internet.
2. Netflix, Facebook, YouTube and games are the most accessed applications by consumers.96% of the consumers who own an IETV watch movies via Netflix.
3. LED-Backlit TVs and Large-Size Sets Continue to Gain Share LED-backlight TV accounted for 25.5% of consumer purchases in Q1 2011.22.7% of purchases were of larger than 50-inch sets in Q1 2011.
4. 3DTVs are Starting to Reach Lower Income Segments and Sell at Smaller Screen Sizes Increased demand has caused increased availability and purchases of 3DTVs. 3DTVs continue to become more evenly spread out within income groups. 40-49-inch range 3DTV sets continue to gain ground on larger size sets.
5. Consumers are becoming less decisive when purchasing TVs The time consumers spent researching TV purchases has slightly increased. More consumers predetermined that they want a LCD or a LED TV, up 1% over Q4 2011. LED- backlit TVs have progressively become more popular with higher income families.
6. CCFL-backlit TVs dominate in the lower-to-mid range level of income in the US.
