During 2011-13 HD-Consumer Electronics market to grow at CAGR of around 19%

According to RNCOS latest research report "Global Consumer Electronics Market Forecast to 2013", adoption of HD content has been rampant during the last few years. Global manufacturers have adopted high definition as a standard and are now incorporating it in all consumer electronics.RNCOS says HDTV's entered mainstream market a few years ago and have been capturing a major chunk of the market since then. With increasing retail sales of HD recorders, up gradation of transmitting equipments and networks will drive shipment of high definition consumer electronics at a CAGR of around 19% during the forecast period 2011-2013 predicts RNCOS.

According to RNCOS global shipments of HD consumer electronics are expected to be more than triple by 2013 from the 2008 levels as HD is becoming the ubiquitous video standard worldwide. RNCOS say it also found that, High Definition set top boxes will capture the major chunk of the global HD consumer electronics market during the forecast period. As per its report, HD STBs' shipment has witnessed significant growth during the past few years with growth in digital televisions (DTV) and high-definition televisions shipments.

As per RNCOS research, the Asia-Pacific region will become a leader during the forecast period, accounting for nearly half of the global HD STBs demand. India and China will represent majority of this demand, however both the countries have registered slow uptake of multi-channel TV till date owing to price and technology limitations. As costs will reduce, both the countries will record phenomenal growth.
