AllWinner selects ARM Cortex CPU and Mali GPU for its SoCs

ARM has announced that AllWinner Technology Co. Ltd., has licensed the ARM Cortex-A8 processor and the Mali-400 MP Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to design semiconductor chips for high definition displays within a low power envelope to a wide range of Android OS-based connected consumer products, from tablets through to multimedia systems for automotive. The Allwinner Technology SoC design will be available from Q2, 2011.

AllWinner Technology Co., Ltd was founded in 2007, and is engaged in mixed-mode SOC technology research and VLSI design.

ARM has also announced Korean fables semiconductor vendor Telechips Inc. has extended its license of ARM Mali embedded graphics products to include the Mali-400 MP Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).
