Apple keeps hold on its mobile apps and the content to generate revenue

In the new mobile computing IT economics the content is also getting into the control of mobile phone environment developer. Apple with its devices (iPhones, iPads), platform, and the store is in full control of its mobile computing eco. The revenue gain from this is significant.
As per the IHS research the Apple App Store in 2010 generated $1.8 billion in revenue, giving it 82.7 percent share of the total market, down from 92.8 percent in 2009. Revenue for the Apple App Store rose 131.9 percent from $768.7 billion in 2009.

But the Apple is loosing its market share due to superfast growth of Andriod based mobile devices. In smart phones Android is going very highspeed with clear indication of beating Apple sometime if not by revenue but by usage. Once the tablet computers made up of Android floods the market, in fact which has already been started. It will be a tight competition between Apple environment and Android.

"In 2010, competitors managed to close the gap with Apple's iPhone in terms of providing smart phone products with compelling user interfaces," said Jack Kent, analyst, mobile media, for IHS.

Though Android is growing fast in terms of usage but not by revenue due to much of the applications are free.
