Mentor Graphics' Veloce Emulation Platform adopted by Broadcom

Mentor Graphics has announced that Broadcom Corporation has further expanded its use of the Veloce hardware emulation platform for the system-level validation of its next-generation Networking Systems-on-Chip (SoC) for High-Bandwidth switch applications.

"We continuously evaluate design verification methods to enable delivery of the highest quality product to our customers in the shortest possible time," said Neil Kim, executive vice president, Operations and Central Engineering, Broadcom Corporation. "After a rigorous on-site evaluation, we concluded the Veloce platform's combined strength to perform in-circuit emulation and transaction-based acceleration empowers us to achieve robust system validation."

Mentor says the Veloce platform with dual mode accelerator and emulator provides high performance for both transaction-based verification and traditional in-circuit emulation (ICE) for multimedia, networking, wireless, and embedded systems applications.

"Broadcom challenged us to improve their functional verification effectiveness," said Eric Selosse, Mentor Emulation Division vice president and general manager. "Their inspiration drove us to develop new iSolve networking solutions for in-circuit emulation. We also partnered with their protocol test vendor to engineer virtual networking traffic generation, leveraging our Testbench Xpress transaction-based acceleration technology. We look forward to continued collaboration with Broadcom to advance the state-of-the-art in design verification of Networking switch solutions."
