Cavium and MontaVista co-develop Android ref. platform on the ECONA ARM core
Cavium Networks and MontaVista have released a reference platform with Android on the ECONA dual core ARM processors for the digitally connected home and office applications such as FTTX broadband gateways, Networked Storage, Internet streaming devices and SMB Gateways.
Part of the MontaVista Rapid Deployment Program for Android, the reference platform includes a commercial quality Linux port to the ECONA CNS3XXX ARM processor platform and support for the appropriate on-chip hardware acceleration blocks including graphics acceleration. It also integrates the drivers for the peripherals including Bluetooth, 802.11n and Touch Panel Display. In addition, the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) is integrated to work with the Android ver2.2 ("Froyo") framework. Integration of the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) Digital Media Server (DMS) library with Android is also complete. As a result, support for rich Internet and multimedia applications like Internet Radio, YouTube access are pre-built into the reference platform. Detailed test and quality assurance reports for the entire system are also available.
