Fairchild to display LED lighting and medical tech at Arrowfest
Fairchild Semiconductor will highlight its LED lighting and medical technology at the Arrow Electronics' 22nd annual coast-to-coast technology exhibition. The Arrowfest 2010 technology events will be held in Chicago, Ill., Chanhassen, Minn., Santa Clara, Calif., Toronto, Canada, Los Angeles, Calif., and Boston, Mass.
In the Arrowfest 2010 Fairchild will focus on two key areas. They include:
--LED lighting solutions. The LED lighting solutions from Fairchild ranges from discrete to integrated circuit solutions that integrate PFC controllers, ballast control ICs, high-voltage gate drivers and MOSFETs.
--Analog and power functions for portable medical applications that includes products for core power, USB, audio, interface, switching, logic multimedia, RF power, and lighting designed specifically to reduce development time and enable a faster time-to-market experience.
Fairchild technologist Brian Kirkish will discuss the following topics at Arrow's Technology Seminars in Cleveland and Dayton, Ohio for the engineering community:
--Basic principles of AC-DC switching converters in flyback topologies
--Variations of the flyback topologies such as quasi-resonant and resonant mode operation
--Primary side regulation, constant voltage or constant current, as well as techniques to drive LEDs
--Alternate topologies as well as some non-isolated topologies
--PFC controllers, combo controllers as well as single stage PFC-PWM controllers
--The fundamentals BCM (boundary conduction mode) and DCM (discontinuous conduction mode) for PFC as well as the potential drawbacks of each
--Other simpler methods for improving power factor
