Sony to start shipping newest members of its silicon tuner module lineup
Sony said it will start shipping samples of its lineup of silicon tuner modules that incorporate its silicon turner IC. Sony will be launching 40 small, high-performance silicon tuner modules.
Sony has developed different types of silicon tuner modules such as antenna switch models, loop-through function, demodulator models for digital broadcasts, and dual tuner models. According to Sony their silicon tuner modules realize high production efficiencies for LCD TV and Video recording equipment manufacturers while also providing superior performance.
Some of the main features of Sony's silicon tuner module are:
1. Sony says that the size of its silicon tuner module is 40% smaller as compared to conventional coil tuner.
2. It is designed to withstand ingress noise from peripheral circuits, for which it uses Sony's RF circuit and simulation technologies.
3. Provides stable reception by excluding air-core coil thus minimizing the variations caused by reception channels and by the usage environment (ex. ambient temperature).
4. This module uses 50mW in standby mode.
