APT-X and JayBird collaborate to enable wired quality audio in wireless bluetooth headphones

APTX and JayBird have collaborated in a view to perfect the wireless stereo audio performance of Sportsband, range of color-coordinating Bluetooth headphones from JayBird. The Sportsband range is designed for stereo entertainment during work-outs, extreme sports, fitness training, leisure activities, and outdoor pursuits, it also integrates a microphone for calls with mobile phones such as the new iPhone 4. Sportsband, and other products in the JayBird portfolio are suggested for consumers looking to cut the cord and go wireless.

The apt-X audio coding is implemented within the Bluetooth audio distribution profile to enhance the intrinsic capability of Sportsband to deliver "wired-quality audio without the wires." The apt-X audio coding provides wireless connectivity Bluetooth streams full-spectrum (20Hz - 20kHz) audio over the bandwidth limitations imposed by the Bluetooth profile for advanced audio distribution or A2DP. The Version 2.1 of Bluetooth wireless personal area network standard is now found in almost every make and model of mobile phone, portable media player, the latest televisions, and other digital entertainments devices.
