ST Micro and Nanotron team up to develop asset tracking systems.

Nanotron's Chirp Spread Spectrum radio hardware and software products used in building personal area network (IEEE 802.15.4a) are based on how the dolphins communicate and also the way bats calculate the range. This technology is used to identify and communicate and physical stuff through wireless sensors. The critical parts are RFID related semiconductors. ST Micro's strength in RFID and other related semiconductors with the combination of Nanotron chirp technology is expected to deliver some really interesting products for this emerging RFID asset-tracking applications andReal Time Location Systems (RTLS).

The products born out of combined effort are expected in early 2007.
