National Semiconductor reports quarterly revenue growth of 10%

National Semiconductor has reported revenue of $398.5 million in its fourth quarter of fiscal 2010ending May 30, 2010, a growth of 10 percent compared to the previous quarter revenue of 362 million and a growth of 42 percent higher than the year ago quarter.
National stated rise in the sales of analog and power management semiconductor devices for applications such as personal mobile device and industrial markets was the reason for growth of revenues in the fourth quarter.

National reported a net income of $79.2 million, or 33 cents per diluted share in fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 compared to the $53.2 million, or 22 cents per diluted share, in the third quarter of fiscal 2010. In the year ago quarter, National has reported a net loss of $63.7 million, or a net loss of 28 cents per diluted share.

These figures put National Semiconductor ahead of average semiconductor industry growth. The two leading U.S. based analog semiconductor makers National and Analog Devices are performing well with impressive revenue figures for its investors. Analog Devices has recently reported a revenue of $668 million in its fiscal 2nd quarter 2010 ending May 1 2010, a sequential growth of 11%. This is clear indication that all-is-well for precision analog semiconductor market.

In 2009 when recession has taken control, both these companies have performed below industry's average, but when the growth is back in year 2010 they are doing opposite, growing better than the industry average.
The reason for their growth can be attributed to investment in technologies of future. It applies more for National due to its focus on Solar.

National has projected its first quarter of fiscal 2011 revenues to increase 3 to 5 percent (between $410 million and $418 million) from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010.
