YM Krishna SSK produce renewable energy by employing GE Fanuc's control system
YM Krishna SSK has chosen GE Fanuc's process control system, proficy process systems to control and automate its captive power plant located in a remote area of Western Maharashtra, India.
The captive power plant is a 16 MW cogeneration plant that will take bagasse from a sugar mill and provide energy back to the total plant. YM Krishna SSK is "going green" by utilizing the waste from the mill and carbon credits to provide surplus power back to the market.
"Our goal with automating the plant is to make sure we are positioned correctly for expansion of the sugar plant, power and the distillery," said Dr. Indrajeet Mohite, Chairman of YM Krishna SSK. "We wanted a control system to reduce startup time and production downtime. In addition, we wanted intangible benefits such as improvement in energy efficiency and sugar quality and less dependence on human factors, as well as easy expandability to a production management solution with connectivity to an ERP system. Proficy Process Systems and its ability to seamlessly integrate with Proficy Production Management solutions will provide us with that capability."
"The Proficy Process System High Availability RX3i controller, I/O and forward-thinking architecture of 100 MBPS I/O Rack Connectivity will enable us to reduce time to decision and increase our productivity," concluded Mr. Mohite.
