Bosch, Dupont and Xerox have pledged environment friendly patents
Bosch, Dupont and Xerox Corporation have joined Eco-Patent Commons group, to pledge environmentally beneficial patents for public domain use.
Eco-Patent Commons is launched by IBM, Nokia, Pitney Bowes, and Sony in partnership with World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). WBSCD supported by 200 international companies with members from more than 30 countries and 20 major industrial sectors. Its mission is to provide business leadership as a catalyst for change toward sustainable development.
The newly pledged patents from these companies are:
Xerox: The technologies to save time and cost of removing hazardous waste from water and soil.
Dupont: A technology that converts certain non-recyclable plastics into beneficial fertilizer by using enzymes. Also in another patent, microorganisms are used to emitt light wherever pollutants are present, its called lux technology.
Bosch: Automotive technologies to lower fuel consumption, reduce emissions, or convert waste heat from vehicles into useful energy.

The founding member Sony has pledged: Technology enabling the recycling of optical discs to retrieve the pigment composition, and metal from the disc's reflective film.
