Microchip to hire another 300 engineers in India
The 8-bit MCU leader Microchip is investing US$ 65 million in India in next five years. The new facility has been set up to develop software and development tools for their range of microcontrollers. Microchip will provide jobs to 300 engineers at various positions in embedded domain.
This expansion is an indication of growing prowess of Indian embedded engineers with electronics engineering as basic qualification. Like Microchip, other leading microcontroller vendors too are giving importance to India, for both market as well as outsourcing. The prominent vendors who have better position in establishing their market and as well as development centers are, Freescale, Renesas, Fujitsu, ST Micro, and NXP.
Freescale and Microchip are few steps ahead in some aspects, particularly in educating young engineers about their products.
India's microcontroller market is also showing interesting growth trends. Automotive electronics is the major driver. Renesas, Freescale, Fujitsu, Microchip are the leading suppliers in Indian market.
