SPMT's abridged technology specifications for mobile devices

SPMT has announced the availability of abridged technology for Serial Port Memory Technology. SPMT states, this technology is the first-of-its-kind technology for dynamic random access memory (DRAM) delivers the bandwidth flexibility and scalability required by new generations of mobile devices, all at significantly reduced pin count, low power consumption and lower cost. And the suggested applications include mobile handset, enabling a new generation of devices capable of running highly data intensive, media-rich applications.

"The release of the SPMT abridged specification marks a significant milestone in preparing Serial Port Memory Technology for broad market adoption among manufacturers of handset, gaming, netbooks and other mobile devices," said Jim Venable, president of SPMT, LLC. "Going from a parallel interface to a serial interface is recognized by the mobile industry as the next evolution for memory and the SPMT Consortium is at the forefront leading the way."
