Java enters embedded world.
With embedded systems communicating more often with other systems and computers/servers. The JAVA; preferred programming language for programming applications where lot of data communication involved from TCP/IP to any other such layered protocols is entering the embedded world. Freescale, which make powerful communication processors has implemented JAVA SE for Freescale PowerQUICC III processor. Sun and Freescale are collaborating in creating this JAVA SE for embedded systems. They together optimize the software platform for hardware acceleration, giga-hertz performance, and ultra-low power capabilities. The preliminary version is running on Freescale's MPC8544 device. The applications targeted are multi-function printers, connected industrial and robotic systems, military avionics and medical imaging equipment. In future, it looks many more processors from different vendors will start supporting JAVA to give embedded developers and JAVA programmers another era of opportunity.
