IDT powered by Tundra's expertise is allying with Micron to develop PCIe SSDs

Integrated Device Technology (IDT) and Micron are forming an alliance to develop PCI Express (PCIe) Solid-State Drive (SSD) technologies for the server, storage and embedded systems markets.

This alliance would ensure IDT PCIe interface semiconductors to get tuned to Micron's NAND flash memory based SSDs.

"As the NAND landscape continues to evolve with application requirements and process advancements, it's important that we ensure the interface options align with the technology," said Dean Klein, vice president of memory system development at Micron. "Micron continues to be a leader in NAND-based storage and we recognize the complications manufacturers face when implementing new - and changing - technology into their systems. Through this alliance with IDT, we're opening the doors for our customers to easily take advantage of the latest and most innovative flash technology, with features optimized for enterprise applications."

IDT got a boost in its expertise in high-speed processor interface bus devices such PCIe by acquiring Tundra Semiconductor.
