One more PSoC lab in Tamil Nadu by Cypress Semiconductor
Cypress has setup a Programmable System on Chip (PSoC) embedded systems development lab at Sona College of Technology (Sona Tech) of Salem, Tamil Nadu. Cypress will offer training and tools (both hardware and software) for the faculty and students. This is the 3rd such lab in India. The other two are at Anna University, Chennai and Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT), Bangalore.
PSoC is becoming popular word among Indian ee students. Labs such as these motivate electronics engineering students to take up hardware design seriously rather than branching out to some application software domain. Also students are exposed to latest industry requirements in embedded system domain.
By making this lab facility available to other nearby engineering colleges, Cypress has made its resources well utilized.
Sona Tech will incorporate PSoC solutions in the Microcontroller/Microprocessor, Digital Design, and Analog Design curriculum and research projects.
"This new PSoC laboratory, which Cypress is graciously collaborating with us on, demonstrates Sona Tech's committment to bring established and emerging technologies to our engineering students," said A. Dhirajlal, Secretary of Sona Tech. "The PSoC platform offers a powerful development environment to learn practical design skills that our students will bring with them into their careers."
"This agreement helps Cypress continue to build its presence with the growing, talented foundation of engineers in India," said Pahsupathy Gopalan, Vice President of Strategic Marketing and Corporate Business Development at Cypress. "This new lab will familiarize Sona Tech students with the flexibility and integration delivered by the PSoC platform. We are confident that the ease-of-use and versatility of PSoC will lead many new designers to leverage the technology as customers."
