Trident completes the acquisition of consumer product line from Micronas

The digital consumer IC specialist Trident has completed the process of acquiring consumer IC business from Micronas, which was announced on 1st Apr 09.
The acquired product lines include,
Fame-rate-converter: FRC-Q
Demodulator: DRX-K, DRX-J and DRX-Z
Audio product lines: MSP, MAP, and UACB product families of Micronas.

Micronas received 7.0 million shares of Trident common stock and warrants to acquire up to 3.0 million additional Trident shares. As per the deal, Micronas will own approximately 10% of Trident Microsystems.

With this business plan, Trident will expand its product line of consumer devices where as Micronas slimmed its consumer product line with more focus on industrial and automotive ICs and sensors.

"This acquisition is an important step and catalyst in achieving our vision to reemerge as a leading DTV multimedia solutions provider," said Sylvia Summers Couder, Trident's Chief Executive Officer and President. "We are excited about the opportunities the combined product portfolio will bring as this acquisition will expand the markets and customers we serve, upgrade our intellectual property, as well as reduce our expected cash burn rate," added Summers.
