Avago Technologies to buy Infineon's Polymer Optical Fiber business
Avago Technologies, a semiconductor/component spin off from Agilent has signed an agreement with Infineon Technologies to acquire Infineon's Polymer Optical Fiber(POF) business based in Regensburg, Germany. Entire staff and facility will be part of Avago, and it's location will be continued at the present Regensburg facility.
Infineon's Polymer Optical Fiber business caters to the growing market of automotive, multimedia infotainment networks, home broadband services and transceivers for safety systems.
Fariba Danesh, vice president of Avago's fiber optic division says, "Avago's acquisition and integration of Infineon's POF team is a logical step for combining complementary technologies and growing our presence in the automotive and industrial market, which is one of four targeted end markets for us".
