Vishay demonstrating its latest resistor's benefits through an online video

Vishay is displaying the benefits of its latest metal foil resistors through a streaming video available on its website. Vishay says, its bulk metal foil resistors are designed and manufactured to eliminate the inter-parameter compromise inherent in all other types of precision resistors. All-important characteristics - tolerance, long-term and load-life stability, temperature coefficient, noise, capacitance, inductance, and rise time - are optimum, approaching in total performance the theoretical idea of a straight wire of constant electrical resistance.

The video feature an accelerated life test and highlight the TCR performance of Bulk Metal Foil devices and the in-circuit performance of Vishay Bulk Metal Foil resistors when subjected to ESD, a major cause of component failure.

Vishay has also announced a new component sourcing service called "Panic Button" service, to provide prototypes of bulk metal foil resistors in five working days or less.

Through Vishay's "Panic Button" services circuit designers only need to provide overall electrical performance specifications, the environmental operating conditions, and the desired physical requirements. Vishay will then select and package the bulk metal foil resistor or resistors in the most suitable combination to meet performance requirements
Vishay claims, bulk metal foil devices have an almost instantaneous thermal stabilization time of < 1 second, and a nearly immeasurable 1.0-ns rise time, effectively without ringing.
