Moser Baer to build thin film solar array plant in India
In immediate response to Government's newly announced semiconductor policy, Moser Baer has announced it will invest in building fabrication plant for making thin film photovoltaic solar arrays. Moser Baer is already a well-known brand in optical storage media. It's quality and reputation is no less than any other competitor in this market. With the high volume production capability and good understanding of local market, Moser Baer can have similar success what it has already experienced in Optical storage media. The vendor selected by Moser Baer for the fabrication equipment is Applied Materials, who is a leader in nanometer technology.
The solar photovoltaic power generation is reaching it's economic worthiness in just few years. With the current trend in demand for electric power, the cost of buying power from utility company will no longer be cheaper than solar arrays, at least in some situations.
The new generation thin film solar arrays are more efficient than conventional thick film solar arrays making them more viable.
All this points towards India becoming solar manufacturing hub and market.
