Chinese telecom vendor ZTE Corporation is launching technologies at a pace not comparable to other telecom vendors. ZTE is releasing new technologies in Wireless, IP (Internet Protocol) communication, smartphones and LTE in a go.
IP communication:
ZTE is demonstrating its latest carrier-grade all-IP multi-service bearer solution at the MPLS & Ethernet World Congress 2009, an event focusing on MPLS and carrier Ethernet infrastructure held in Paris, France from February 10-13, 2009.
ZTE started its R&D on IP based core network in 1999. It has introduced All-IP architecture based next-generation universal platform and a series of 60 core network products based on this platform, which have been commercially deployed in 100 plus regions.
Smart phones:
ZTE is unveiling new range of smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2009. Ten different designs will be on display, including customized handsets for Vodafone and China Mobile.
The VF 1231 model will be the highlight of ZTE's showcase which has been developed especially for Vodafone. The smartphone is based on Windows Mobile platform and has a single chip for GSM and EDGE.
ZTE's smartphones range from low to high-end handsets. Latest models include the 'XIANG' series of 3.5G super slim HSDPA/HSUPA handsets, the e760 (a GSM-based handset custom-made for China Mobile) and the D820/D810 (a CDMA-based handset custom-made for China Telecom). Also, ZTE will be displaying the U981, a top-end smartphone that was deployed by China Mobile during the Beijing Olympic Games.
Wimax:
According to a report entitled 'Global WiMAX Market, Takes off in 2009' released by market research analysis firm, In-Stat, out of the 94 new WiMAX 16e commercial networks deployed last year, ZTE had 15 of them or 16% of all the networks established worldwide, lining up the company among the top two WiMAX equipment vendors in 2008. This figures still not that impressive compared to other areas growth by ZTE.
On the new product side, ZTE has launched the industry's smallest WiMAX 16e RRU (Remote Radio Unit) product. This product is also getting exhibited at the Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2009 from February 16 - 19.
