Taiwan's DRAM vendor Powerchip semiconductor posts 1.603 billion NT$ revenue for Jan-09

Taiwan based DRAM memory device vendor Powerchip Semiconductor has posted un-audited net sales revenue of 1.603 billion NT Dollars for the month of Jan 09 a decline of whopping 3.8939 billion NT$ from Jan 08. Amid the extremely weak memory market, the new hope is recent rise in price of DRAM chips. The market treat DRAM like any other commodity product. The DRAM price is so volatile, the price volatility can be comparable to vegetable price in local markets. It's clearly uncontrolled change of both supply and demand.
Here 's what Powerchip Semiconductor's spokesperson Mr Eric Tang's comments, "As worldwide vendors' production cuts are now taking effect and as large scale competitors exiting the industry have led to more active purchasing by customers, leading to the recent rise in DRAM pricing, although still below manufactures cash costs. However as oversupply is gradually contracts, PSC continuing and with its production cuts together with all production on 65nm process, significantly reducing costs, will allow PSC to return to profitability faster than our peers when pricing recovers."

It's no wonder if DRAM market may quickly get into opposite mode, driving the demand up and supply down. However in the present recession period, it's difficult for that to happen.
