Electronics and semiconductor industry 4th Q 08 revenue update for Jan 27 to Jan 29 2009

The brief revenue figures of leading electronics companies for the recent quarter are listed below for a quick grasp.

Qualcomm's first quarter Fiscal 2009 revenues were $2.51 billion, up 3 percent year-over-year and down 25 percent sequentially.

Cavium Networks reports sales revenue of $22.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2008 , a 9.6% sequential decline from the $24.5 million reported for the third quarter of 2008 and an increase of 37.0% from the $16.2 million reported for the fourth quarter of last year.

Tyco Electronics net sales for first fiscal quarter 2009 were $2.8 billion, a decrease of 21 percent compared to the prior-year period. Electronic Component sales of Tyco declined 25 percent compared to the prior-year quarter and declined 22 percent organically. On an organic basis, the company experienced declines in the automotive (-31 percent), computer (-30 percent), communications (-19 percent) and industrial (-9 percent) markets. Specifically in automotive, Europe declined 36 percent, North America declined 33 percent, and Asia declined 22 percent.

KEMET Net sales for the 4th quarter of 2008 ended December 31, 2008, were $190.7 million, which is a 16.6% decrease over the same quarter last year. Net sales for the nine month period ended December 31, 2008 were $668.3 million which is a 9.8% increase compared to the same period last year, inclusive of acquisitions. Sales declined approximately 13 percent compared to the prior quarter ended September 2008 excluding the impact of exchange rates and the sale of the Company's wet tantalum assets.

Raytheon Reports Solid Fourth Quarter and Full-Year 2008 Results, Net sales in the fourth quarter 2008 were $6.1 billion compared to $6.0 billion in the fourth quarter 2007. 2008 net sales were $23.2 billion compared to $21.3 billion in 2007, an increase of 9 percent. All of Raytheon's businesses contributed to the Company's sales growth.

Industrial, aerospace and defense electronics are the areas with less impact of recession.
