Xilinx adds EtherCAT IP core for it's Spartan series FPGAs

Latest industrial Ethernet solution called EtherCAT (Ethernet Control Automation Technology) IP is now part of IP cores available for Spartan-3 series FPGA family from Xilinx. The IP core is developed and supported by Beckhoff Automation GmbH.
The industrial automation designers can do scaled implementation of this feature as per requirements.
EtherCAT is a open standard technology for industrial networking initiated by EtherCAT Technology Group, whose members are leading automation companies. The specialty of EtherCAT is, it's fast and can be operated with or without switches.
