Cypress Semiconductor's academic support initiative

Engineering institutes are becoming strategic partners for leading semiconductor companies to expand their product market. It's a good move, benefits both budding engineers and companies in long term. Cypress is one such company with two new announcements in this week.

1. With Nuva College of Engineering

Cypress is partnering with Nuva College of Engineering and Technology in Nagpur, India to establish a next-generation academic design facility. Students and faculty will have access to Cypress's full suite of PSoC® programmable system-on-chip and EZ-USB FX2LP™ USB2.0 controller software tools and development kits for teaching and research.
Students and faculty will also have easy access to Cypress-sponsored training, technical support and curriculum development assistance.
"This partnership will allow Nuva's students to receive hands-on design experience using Cypress's industry-leading technology," said Chandra Bhople, Nuva's Director of Academics. "With Cypress's help, our students will enter the workforce with the skills necessary to quickly be productive in the fast-paced world of engineering and computer science."

2. With Europractice

Cypress Semiconductor is partnering with Europractice to provide Cypress's high-performance, mixed-signal, programmable solutions at discounted rate for use by academic and not-for-profit research institutions throughout the European Union. Included in the offering is Cypress's PSoC® programmable system-on-chip family, USB controllers, general-purpose programmable clocks and memories, wired and wireless connectivity solutions, and the West Bridge™ and EZ-USB® FX2LP controllers that enhance connectivity and performance in multimedia handsets. Cypress will also offer a full suite of development tools, including its First Touch™ starter kit and PSoC Designer™ integrated development environment.

Europractice is a European Union initiative to improve the competitiveness of European industry by stimulating the wider use of state-of-the-art technologies across research and educational establishments. The Europractice Software Service has over 650 member institutions across 38 countries.

Cypress University Alliance program includes a global design competition, comprehensive curricula and a university alliance website providing access to a cache of free design resources, evaluation boards and online courses. It also includes product donations for lab projects. Cypress also conduct design challenge for all undergraduate and graduate engineering students currently enrolled in an accredited university.
