TI and Ittiam jointly offer IP based videophone solutions for OEMs
Texas Instruments and Ittiam Systems have announced Internet Protocol (IP) video phone solution based on TI's system-on-a-chip (SoC) and software. This solution is for Original Equipment Manufacturers to produce IP based videophones quickly without any design effort. This DaVinci technology based solution is developed on TI's existing Gigabit Ethernet IP phone platform with Telogy Software for VoIP. Ittiam's video engine software is used for handling video data.
IP based Videophone market, though not as big as voice only IP phone, but has the potential to outgrow voice phones in coming years. Design ready solutions such as this will become OEM's favorite choice in selecting ready to manufacture designs. However cost and video quality will be the deciding factor.
Ittiam's DSP related IP strength and TI's dominance in DSP market can produce interesting solutions for markets such as this.
TI has shipped over 750 million VoIP ports to date for the IP phone, customer premise equipment (CPE) gateway and high-density infrastructure markets.
