TI releases TPS27081A PFET high-side load switch

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) has introduced a high-side load switch that integrates a power PFET and a control NFET in a small 6-lead package. The TPS27081A switch supports a supply voltage range of 1.0 V to 8 V and can replace discrete FET switches. The load switch provides adjustable slew-rate control and hence is suitable for any application that needs load switching or power sequencing, including notebooks, tablets, LCD televisions, global positioning systems (GPS) and set-top boxes.

Key features:
1. High voltage range of operation for both the on/off function and input/output voltages supports wider range of applications
2. Supply inputs are fully protected against ESD strikes on all leads
3. Low ON resistance with the high-current PFET enables low voltage drop across the PMOS transistor.
4. High-pulsed current rating permits reliability under short-circuit conditions
5. Complements TI's ON-resistance integrated load switches, such as the TPS22965 and the TPS22929D.

The TPS27081A is available in a 2.9 x 1.6 x 0.75 mm thin SOT-23 (DDC) package and the suggested retail price is US$0.12 in 1000-unit quantities.
