HDMI dongle converts HDMI interfaced TV into smart TV

Japan's IMJ Corporation had demonstrated plug-in computer called MG Stick at CableLabs' Summer Conference. MG Stick which looks similar to USB dongle is designed to turn any TV with an HDMI port into an interactive "smart" TV.

IMJ was selected as having the best new idea for a product most likely to succeed as part of informal polling conducted following "Innovation Showcase" presentations during the CableLabs' Summer Conference.

Some of the features of the MG Stick includes:

It’s thumb size device, where the wired interface is HDMI and wireless interface is Wi-Fi.
It can be connnected almost to any TV with HDMI interface.
Supports video encoding such as (H.264,MEG4-AVC, etc), and encryption (AES, etc).

Its also quoted in the product features page of IMJ website "the IMJ Solution is designed to allow any over-the-top service provider to develop a custom hardware solution that suits their service"

IMJ is offering custom services and development kit for custom integration and branding.

MG Stick is easy to setup and can be remotely controlled using an authenticated smart phone.
Availability: Summer 2012 at a listed price of $50 to $90.
