Schottky barrier diodes from ROHM for electric vehicle reduce IR losses
ROHM has made immediately available low IR (low forward voltage drop) Schottky barrier diodes operating at high temperatures (prevents thermal runaway at high temperatures – even at Ta=150ºC) for automotive and power supply devices. Power consumption is approximately 40% less compared to conventional automotive rectifier diodes, making them suitable for electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).
ROHM says it has used high temperature-resistant metals to achieve the industry's lowest IR – approximately 100 times smaller than that of conventional SBDs, ensuring compatibility with high temperature environments.
The RBxx8 series SBDs are sample priced at 50-200 yen/unit.
ROHM has also announced availability of SiC (Silicon Carbide) Schottky barrier diodes for power supply circuits in PV (photovoltaic) power conditioners, industrial equipment, servers, air conditioners, and more. This new series features low forward voltage drop of VF=1.35V.
These devices are priced at: 500yen/pc (Samples)
Availability: June 2012 (Samples)
