Diodes releases 3 new LNB power control ICs for set-top boxes
Diodes Incorporated has introduced a family of low noise block (LNB) power management and control chip ICs for use in set-top boxes, TVs with built-in satellite tuners and PC satellite tuner cards. The ZLPM8000 series is designed to increase product efficiency and reliability and they provide manufacturers the flexibility to address global satellite TV standards.
The three single-output devices available are:
1. The high-current ZLPM8010 (750mA): full-featured; support DiSEqC 1 and 2 standards
2. The low-current ZLPM8011 (450mA): full-featured; support DiSEqC 1 and 2 standards
3. The low-current ZLPM8012 (450mA): reduced feature set; support DiSEqC 1 standard
An integrated 22kHz tone generator offers for DiSEqC and traditional band switching control. To enable two-way communication between LNB and STB, the ZLPM8010 and ZPLM8011 include the Zetex LNB DiSEqC receive technology, which allows detection of a wide range of signals.
Features of ZLPM8000 series:
1. Current boost converter operates from a standard 12V power rail and supplies 500mV LDO regulator
2. Employs Rds(on) (270mohm) MOSFET power switch
3. Standby operating mode consumes 600 ľA
4. Fully configurable via I2C interface or standard logic inputs to handle regional variations in satellite TV standards
5. Using the I2C port, designers can access an array of device functionality, including LNB control, output adjustment, a four-level current limit, low-current standby and various line check features
6. LNB supply is programmable and configurable in 0.25V steps from 10.25V to 19.5V
7. Includes over-current limit, line short and open circuit, over temperature shutdown and under voltage alerts
The three devices in the ZLPM8000 product line are provided in the compact 20-pin, 4 x 4 mm QFN package and are pin-compatible.
