Molex introduces a 32-circuit wire-to-wire connection system to expand CMC product line
Molex has introduced a 32-circuit wire-to-wire connection system to extend its CMC product line. The CMC modular, hybrid connection system is designed to perform in high-conductivity applications and harsh environments. Molex claims that the system is now broadly accepted as an industry standard interface used in automotive and transportation powertrain applications, including ECUs (engine control units), automatic gearboxes, suspension controllers and electric parking brakes.
“The 32-circuit wire-to-wire system enables the customer to implement one female connector and CP terminal system throughout the entire vehicle,” says Selvan Wilhelm, global product manager, Molex. ”By using one connection system, the customer benefits from economies of scale promoting cost-efficient purchasing and optimized production processes, thus reducing overall costs.”
The new Molex 32-circuit, wire-to-wire sealed, high-density, modular connection system is primarily used in powertrain and body electronics applications in cars, trucks and buses. By implementing a complete CMC connection system throughout the entire vehicle, harness makers require only one female connector and terminal system for both their wire-to-board and wire-to-wire applications. The 32-circuit wire-to-wire male plug is designed for either bracket or clip mounting for additional flexibility to have room for the specific space and application requirements of each customer.
“Molex carries a comprehensive line of off-the-shelf connection systems that adhere to the CMC industry standard, enabling customers to save on tooling costs and benefit from reduced lead-time,” adds Wilhelm.
