Fairchild unveiled new off-chip ESD protectors and polarity protection switches
Fairchild semiconductor has added new series of off-chip ESD protectors and a family of new reverse polarity protection switches.
"By expanding our line of circuit protection products we will continue to provide solutions that help increase device safety and guard against system failures," said Adrian Mikolajczak, director of circuit protection at Fairchild.
Products:
1. The off-chip ESD line is to focus on offering coordinated protection in the ESD environments for USB, HDMI, Mobile High-Definition Link and other LVDS applications.
2. The reverse polarity protectors are a new series of in-line switches that attain low on-resistance during normal bias. These devices help protect against damage caused by reverse bias and negative transient events, resulting in protection for sensitive chips against hot-plug transients, reverse battery, and other negative bias conditions up to -30V DC.
3. The new off-chip ESD protectors uses advanced clamping and “Balanced Capacitance” technology and they help reduce the damage caused by ESD events. The ESD protection helps reduce both soft failures that require system reboot as well as full electrical overstress (EOS) generated product returns.
Initial devices from the reverse polarity protection devices to generate less than 15mV voltage drop and dissipate less than 15mW during normally biased 1A operation. In addition, these devices to dissipate less then 5µW in a 5V reverse bias event.
