Fairchild' IC packs PWM controller with avalanche-rugged SenseFET for offline SMPS
Fairchild Semiconductor has developed the FSL206MRx integrated pulse width modulator (PWM) controller to meet the challenges faced by SMPS designers such as space constraints, high energy efficiency, optimized system performance and improved reliability.
The FSL206MRx series is part of the FPS green mode power switch device family and is designed for offline SMPS. The integrated PWM controller with avalanche-rugged SenseFET includes an internal regulator which eliminates the need for an auxiliary bias winding and includes a built-in high-voltage startup and full-protection circuitry.
The FSL206MRN and FSL206MRL have a power loss of 150mW with no-bias winding and 25mW with bias winding at no-load condition when the input voltage is 265VAC. The FSL206MRx series is supported by Fairchild’s Power Supply WebDesigner (PSW), an online design tool that allows designers to customize and fine-tune their designs without having to build a bench prototype.
Features:
1. Fixed operating frequency: 67kHz
2. Frequency modulation for attenuating electromagnetic interference (EMI)
3. Built-in soft-start and startup circuit prevents transformer saturation
4. Low under voltage lockout (UVLO)
5. Operating current: 300µA
6. Separated high- and low-voltage pins to avoid creepage
7. OLP, OVP, AOCP, TSD and LS protections for higher reliability
