200 mA, 60V DC/DC buck converter from TI for smart meter and sensor control apps
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) has introduced a 200 mA, 60V SWIFT high density, synchronous step down regulator 'TPS54061'. The power converter is 90 percent efficient and a low noise performer. The regulator simplifies power design in smart grid and sensor control applications.
The TPS54061 regulator solution has a size of 125 mm2 and integrates both high side and low side power MOSFETs. The device improves efficiency in industrial automation and 4 mA to 20 mA sensor control applications, as well as smart meter, power over Ethernet, computing and consumer designs.
The converter supports various TI processors such as Stellaris ARM Cortex-M MCUs, C5000 DSPs and MSP430 16 bit MCUs.
Features:
1. Input voltages from 4.7 V to 60 V
2. 62V transient protection for specification overhead
3. 90 percent efficiency at 24 Vin, 5 Vout at 50 kHz
4. 90 uA operating current with a shutdown current of 1.4 uA
5. Synchronized switching frequency up to 1.1 MHz
6. 3 x 3 mm SON PowerPad package
The TPS54061 is available in volume now at a resale price of $1.65 in 1,000 unit quantities.
The TPS54061EVM-142 evaluation module (EVM) operates from an 8V to 60V input (24V nominal) and provides a 3.3V output at 200mA.
