450mA Integrated LED driver modules from TI in a single IC package

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) has introduced two fully integrated LED driver micro-modules 450-mA TPS92550 and TPS92551. These DC/DC LED driver modules incorporate all the required power and passive circuitry into a single IC package to deliver up to 23W of power to the LED.

The 14-W TPS92550 and 23-W TPS92551 are constant current buck LED driver modules that almost eliminate the need for power supply design resources. The lighting developer can use TI's WEBENCH LED Architect to design a power management circuit to drive a string of up to 18 LEDs at up to 96% power efficiency.

Features:
a. LED driver micro-module integrates an inductor, Schottky diode and other passive components
b. The LED current is adjustable from 300 mA to 450 mA to control brightness
c. Thermal and electromagnetic interference (EMI) performance through robust IC package
d. 7-pin TO-PMOD package with dimension of 10.16 x 9.85 x 4.57 mm

The retail price for TPS92550 is $5.0 and TPS92551 is $5.5 in 1,000 unit quantities.
