Ingenico iWL200 series uses Atmel's touchscreen controllers for portable payment terminals
Atmel Corporation has announced that Ingenico has selected Atmel maXTouch touchscreen controllers for its Ingenico iWL200 series portable payment terminals with touch capability.
The new Ingenico terminals are the compact touchscreen-based systems that deliver advanced audio, video and touchscreen functionality. These systems are needed by the merchants to transform a point-of-sale opportunity into a point-of-services for their customers. The Ingenico iWL200 terminals are suitable in retail, catering, transportation, gaming and home deliveries.
The Ingenico iWL280 uses an Atmel maXTouch mXT224 microcontroller, a configurable, 224-node, single chip solution that delivers accurate multi-touch performance, along with passive stylus support for accurate signature capture. Ingenico selected maXTouch technology for features such as user touch experience, support for future devices with larger screens, and low power consumption.
"Our customers have high expectations for quality and performance, and we found that Atmel maXTouch controllers provide unique touch capabilities for our widely adopted portable payment terminals," said Michel Leger, EVP, Group, Technology and R&D at Ingenico. "With their superior responsiveness, support for advanced gestures and stylus, ruggedness and flawless touch performance, maXTouch touch controllers enable us to deliver a solution that provides much more than payment processing-it's a function-rich customer service tool. We look forward to collaborating with Atmel on our next generation of our payment products."
"As a leader in payment solutions, Ingenico continues to create breakthrough systems that enable merchants to generate more and more business value while on the go," said Jon Kiachian, vice president of marketing, touch products, Atmel Corporation. "They keenly understand the dynamics of the point-of-purchase experience, and we're excited that our maXTouch technology is playing an integral role in these advanced products, such as the iWL280. We're looking forward to strengthening our long-standing relationship with Ingenico, so that we can collaborate to further advance the use of touch technology in a wide range of merchant-related markets."
Ingenico's iWL200 line of products is shipping in production volumes.
