Single-phase power meter IC from IDT for smart grid

Integrated Device Technology, Inc. has announced the single-phase power metering SoC for smart grid applications. The new IDT 90E46 is a single-phase SoC for smart meter designs, which integrates an energy metering analog front-end with a real-time clock, temperature sensor, LCD driver, and ARM Cortex M0 microprocessor.

IDT says the high level of integration enables system designers to significantly simplify the hardware design and lower the bill-of-materials (BOM) cost.

"IDT is the only company to offer such a high-performance and highly integrated device for the smart meter market," said Sean Fan, vice president and general manager at IDT. "Our original energy metering products have proven very successful with customers and have garnered multiple awards. With our expertise in analog and digital technology, we anticipate continued success with this unparalleled next-generation product for the booming smart grid market."

The new IDT metering SoC is fully compliant with international (both IEC and ANSI) and Chinese standards. The device features 128 kB of internal flash memory.

Pricing and Availability: The IDT 90E46 is currently sampling to qualified customers, and is available in a 100-pin TQFP package. The IDT 90E46 is priced at $2.50 each for volumes of 10,000 units.
