Low jitter voltage controller SAW osciallator for telecom equipment

Integrated Device Technology has announced a new series of low-jitter and low phase-noise silicon-germanium (SiGe) voltage-controlled surface acoustic wave (SAW) oscillators (VCSOs) for designing fiber optic telecom applications.

The IDT M675S02 series supports fundamental frequencies from 500 MHz to 1 GHz. This new device can be used as oscillator source in phase-locked loop (PLL) applications, clock and data recovery circuits, and other timing applications in telecom and optical fiber networking systems.

"With the M675S02, we've built upon the success of the M675 family of VCSOs and increased the frequency range to address new high-performance markets," said Fred Zust, vice president and general manager of the Timing and Synchronization Division at IDT. "To achieve these high frequencies, we had to look beyond our standard CMOS process to SiGe. The result is a demonstration of our innovation and continued commitment to providing the industry's broadest portfolio of timing products."

The high-frequency IDT M675S02 is available in a small 5x7.5 mm package. IDT M675S02 offers a ±120 ppm absolute pull range (APR), linear tuning and a 600 kHz modulation bandwidth. IDT M675S02 is also suggestes as a low-jitter clock reference for analog-to-digital converters.

Pricing and Availability: The IDT M675S02 is currently sampling to qualified customers and is available in a 5x7.5 mm low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) package.

The other vendors of VCSO include, Vectron Internation, Crystek Crystals, Tai-Saw Technology.
