Wraparound thick film chip resistor from Vishay operates at 230 Deg C
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has introduced a new surface-mount, wraparound thick film chip resistor. For down-hole drilling applications, the CHPHT is the industry's first such device to offer an operating temperature range from - 55 °C to + 230 °C, and a storage temperature range of - 55 °C to + 245 °C, says Vishay.
Vishay explains that it is optimized for multi-chip modules (MCM) in down-hold drilling instrumentation, the high-temperature capabilities of the CHPHT resistor allow for the extraction of petroleum at deeper depths. Offered in 0603, 0805, 1206, and 2010 case sizes (with other sizes available upon request), the resistor provides a resistance range from 0.1 O to 100 MO, tolerances of 1 %, 2 %, and 5 %, and power dissipation of 12.5 mW to 100 mW at + 230 °C.
The Vishay Sfernice resistor released is available with gold terminations for compatibility with high melting point (HMP) processes (< 1 µm thick) for temperatures up to + 245 °C, and tin/silver terminations for operating temperatures up to + 200 °C. The device is compliant to RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC and halogen-free according to the IEC 61249-2-21 definition.
Device Specification Table:
Case size Power rating at + 230 °C Limiting element voltage Max. overload voltage Max. resistance
0603 12.5 mW 50 V 100 V 25 MO
0805 20 mW 150 V 300 V 25 MO
1206 25 mW 200 V 400 V 50 MO
2010 100 mW 200 V 400 V 100 MO
Samples and production quantities of the CHPHT are available now, with lead times of 13 weeks for larger orders.
