24V I/p, 100W quarter brick DC/DC converter modules for railway apps

TDK-Lambda Americas, a group company of the TDK Corporation, has added 24V input, 100-watt, CN100A24 Series to its line of railway DC-DC converters, which can operate for wide range of DC inputs from 14.4 to 36.0VDC used in the railway industry and for 24-volt vehicles and available with output voltages of 5V, 12V, 15V or 24VDC (adjustable ±10%).

TDK-Lambda Americas says that The CN100A24 DC-DC modules are suitable for both rolling stock and trackside equipment, enabling user's to design cost-effective EN50155 compliant systems without the risks associated with custom product designs and in a shorter timescale and also offers higher input range versions of these modules (CNA-110, with a input range of 60-160Vdc and output ratings from 30W to 200W) as well as custom design/manufacturing services for its customers who prefer to buy a complete turn-key system that meets their exact electrical and mechanical requirements.

TDK explains that the CN100A24 Series are designed for very harsh environments to meet the shock and vibration requirements of IEC61373 Category 1, Grade B and these baseplate-cooled power converters have standard pin-outs and provide full output power from -40 to +100°C at the baseplate without deratings. TDK-Lambda in the case of the 100-watt model CN100A24-12 quotes an example, delivers 8.4 Amps at 12VDC with a conversion efficiency of 88% at full load. These quarter-brick modules measure 1.45 x 2.28 inches and are only 0.50 inch high.

As standard, the CN100A24 units are equipped with remote sense, remote on/off, overvoltage and overcurrent protection circuitry, and include TDK-Lambda's 5-year warranty. All CN100A24 models have an input-to-output isolation of 3kVAC, are safety-approved to UL/CSA/EN60950-1 and carry the CE mark in accordance with the LV Directive.
